On having a humble opinion of self

There are many things the knowledge of which does little or no good to the soul, and he who concerns himself about things other than those leading to salvation is very unwise.

To think of oneself as nothing and always to think well and highly of others is the best and most perfect wisdom.

On dispising all vanities on earth

It is not learning that makes a man holy and just but a virtuous life that makes him pleasing to God.

On The Imitation of Christ

Im taking a short hiatus on an very long and thorough bible study so that it all has time to settle into the nooks of my mind before I go back to it refreshed. (And once the results come out...)

I'm reading Thomas a Kempis' The Imitation of Christ in the meantime and in bite-sized chunks each day. I feel that's the best way for me not to be overwhelmed by him.

It's a bit different from reading the bible everyday and taking away a verse and I'd like to track my thoughts on the man, so I'm going to use this an a medium to follow my own thoughts while reading.
